CI1544 - Networking Basics

Target audience

Anyone wishing to discover the fundamentals of computer networking, and who has basic digital literacy (everyday computer use), with the goal of accessing an entry-level IT position or preparing for the Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) Networking certification.

Objectives

  • Understand basic networking concepts and terminology.
  • Identify the components of a network (devices, transmission media, protocols) and describe their functions.
  • Observe how data flows across a network.
  • Configure devices to connect them to a network.
  • Use different network applications and protocols to access services and exchange data.
  • Prepare for the Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) Networking certification exam.

Prerequisites

None.

Notes

Basic digital literacy is recommended.

The course will take place on Tuesday evenings from 18:00 - 20:00 and Saturday mornings 08:00 - 10:00.
