C1553 - Linux Essentials: Foundations for Infrastructure Engineering

Target audience

Anyone wishing to discover Linux and build a solid foundation in Linux operating systems and command-line administration. It is ideal for starting a career in system administration, cloud computing, cybersecurity, or DevOps to support modern IT environments. Additionally, it helps IT professionals, Windows administrators, help desk technicians, and networking practitioners expand their technical competencies. No prior Linux knowledge or experience is required.

Objectives

  • Understand the Linux ecosystem, open-source principles, and the role of Linux in modern enterprise IT environments. 
  • Navigate the Linux command-line interface and efficiently manage files, directories, and system resources. 
  • Manage users, groups, file permissions, and basic security controls following Linux administration best practices.
  • Create simple Bash shell scripts to automate repetitive administrative tasks. 
  • Apply fundamental Linux networking, storage, process management, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Use core Linux administration tools to diagnose and resolve common system issues through practical, hands-on exercises. 
  • Install and explore multiple Linux distributions in virtual environments to understand their characteristics, similarities, and differences, and to become familiar with the Linux ecosystem.
  • Prepare for the Linux Professional Institute (LPI) Linux Essentials certification while establishing a solid foundation for progression towards LPIC-1 and advanced Linux administration.

Notes
