Theme:

Nowadays, digital technologies have the potential to address some major challenges in the field of education: innovate teaching, learning practices and ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education for all.

However, rapid technological developments inevitably bring multiple risks and challenges, which have so far outpaced policy debates and regulatory frameworks. In education, digital technologies will transform the traditional teacher-student relationship into a teacher-digital technology-student dynamic. This shift requires a re-examination of teachers’ roles and the competencies they need in this area. So far, a few countries have defined these competencies or developed national programmes to train teachers e.g. in AI, leaving many educators without proper guidance.

The conference aims to generate a shared understanding of the opportunities, the risks and the challenges that digital technologies and especially AI offers for education, as well as its implications for the core competencies needed.

The conference language is English.
